大体的游戏故事其实比较简单：爱丽丝的父母和妹妹在过去的火灾中丧生，只有爱丽丝生还，但是却失去了记忆，或者说记忆破碎。于是接受医生的心理治疗。而这个医生就灌输给爱丽丝罪恶感，称是爱丽丝在图书室和他幻想中的灵猫不小心弄翻了油灯导致了火灾。并且对外界其他人宣称爱丽丝已经精神失常，并且不停的告诉爱丽丝应当忘掉过去。因此爱丽丝一直在精神深处有种自责，认为是自己害死了自己的家人。

然而爱丽丝的幻想世界也开始受到影响，受到外来的邪恶意识入侵，爱丽丝在解救她自己的幻想世界的同时，寻找自己过去的记忆碎片。随着游戏的发展，最后终于回忆起火灾的真相。原来这个心理医生才是罪恶的黑手，是他纵火害死了爱丽丝的家人。然后将爱丽丝得到手，医生用很多这样的伎俩养了一大批所谓的孤儿，教唆他们为自己做见不得人的事，甚至卖给妓院（简直是个典型的伪君子和恶棍），并且用药物和所谓的治疗让他们失去自我和意识，成为自己的 “玩偶”。原本医生是对爱丽丝的妹妹下手，但是她好象没有那么听话或者有利用价值。于是把她和爱丽丝的父母一起害死了。
